Caterham Cars of Surrey had been a major Lotus Seven dealer during the 1960’s and when Lotus announced the end of production in 1973 Caterhams Graham Nearn bought the rights to continue its manufacture. In 1987, due to the continuing popularity of the Seven, a company expansion meant moving production from Caterham to a new factory in Dartford Kent. Still widely regarded as one of the most iconic sports cars of all time, 2007 marked the 50th year of continuous production. With its constant upgrading the Seven looks set to go onto a century of production.
