Henry Ford was born on a Michigan farm in the USA in 1863 and was one of the greatest automobile pioneers of his time; his Model T unquestionably revolutionizing motor manufacturing for ever. His ‘T’ or Tin Lizzie of 1908 cost $850; 18 years later when over 16.5 million had been build, the price was down to just $260. Ford of Britain was started in 1911 with 60 people turning Model T’s out of an old tram factory in Trafford Park, Manchester. Production moved to a brand new factory at Dagenham in 1931 making the Model A. In 1935 it started producing the Model Y, Britain’s first £100 car. Ford died in 1947 leaving behind a family dynesty that still leads the way in many areas of automobile production today.
