The Boxster is a mid-engined roadster designed by Harm Lagaay first introduced in 1997. It gets its name from a combination of its ‘boxer’ engine (horizontally opposed) and its roadster (two seater convertible) build. The mk1 986 ceased production in 2004 to be replaced by the mk II  987 in ’05. This models styling cues were very similar to the 986 but the profile of the front lamps were changed to be more in line with other Porsche models.  After a mild facelift in 2009 the 987 continued in production until 2011 when the third generation 981 superceded it for 2012.
