Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino (FIAT) was founded by Giovanni Agnelli in 1899 and is still run by the Agnelli family to this day. Motor racing played a big part in its early history with many Grand Prix wins on both sides of the Atlantic that set the company apart from your average ‘run of the mill’ manufacturer. Throughout the 1920’s & ’30’s Fiat expanded into France, Germany & Spain and in 1936 produced a baby car, the 500 Toppolino (Mickey Mouse) that the world would fall in love with. It set Fiat on a roll of producing great small cars, and the little 500 of the 1960’s proved a great inspiration for the latest million seller… the 500 of the 21st century.
