Mitsubishi  was founded by Yataro Iwasaki as a shipping company in 1870. It diversified first into related industries and later still into every sector of the Japanese economy, building itself into a giant conglomerate by the mid 20th century. Following WWII Mitsubishi started assembling Willy’s Jeeps and scooters to name just two of the avenues it used to re-establish itself. Today it’s automobile division is a multi-national company with alliances around the globe with many other major car manufacturers.
