Not a great deal of difference from the 996; it was evolution rather than revolution. Jeremy Clarkson commented that Porsche has ‘the laziest design team in the world’  so few were the changes between the models. Built between 2005 and 2012 the 997 was the most successful 911 built to date, Stuttgart turned out 100,000 units between 2005 and 2007 alone. Whilst not visually too different from the older 996, the 997 was faster, lighter,more fuel efficient and also handled that bit better. It worried the likes of Aston-Martin who build the Vantage specifically to take it on.
