The Cayenne is a classy five seater mid-sized luxury crossover vehicle with sales starting in 2002/3. This was a new market that Porsche was entering and there were mixed emotions by many of the diehard Porsche enthusiasts as to wisdom of this move. It proved all the doubters wrong, being a runaway sales success.
